PREMIERE: ‘Fantastical Millipede’ by Daniel Christopherson released on Million Youth Media

By Molly Lipson

Funded through a Kickstarter campaign and chosen as a ‘Project We Love’, The Fantastical Millipede follows Hannah, a teenage superhero in the making, who finds that despite her superpowers she feels powerless to save our real world from its real world problems.

The short is written and directed by London Film School graduate Daniel Christophersen, who was inspired by the 2019 Brexit Britain and Extinction Rebellion era. “It felt like no matter how many protests you attended or emails you wrote or products you boycotted, you couldn’t have any influence,” he says. “You were powerless. This was a feeling I wanted to explore. And who was the most ironic character to feel powerless? Someone with superpowers.”

Fantastical Millipede premiered at The London International Festival for Science Fiction and Fantastic Film. It also played at the Blue Planet Sci-Fi Film Festival, Cinemagic, Awesome Con Film Festival and it was a finalist at FilmQuest and Flickers Rhode Island International Film Festival.

The film is now available to watch on Million Youth Media.
