EXCLUSIVE: Trailer released for ‘Tell Your Face’ by Olivia D'Lima and Jill Worsley
3 June 2026 | By Molly LipsonTell Your Face is an absurd comedy that addresses the pressures society puts upon our ageing process, and the role that each generation plays in that. Haunted by her late mother's praise of her smooth skin, Chikana hits 30 and begins to obsess over her developing wrinkles. Without the money or motivation for Botox, she concocts an absurd and extreme way to stop them in their tracks.
“Tell Your Face is an off-beat, absurd, playful comedy, but the core of the story stems from real loss and real fear,” says the film’s writer and star, Olivia D’Lima. Director Jill Worsley explains that she was drawn to the script, “because its themes are so painfully familiar. The pressure to remain youthful, attractive and in control can feel so normalised that we rarely stop to question how strange it really is. Chikana's solution to ageing is obviously absurd, but the impulse behind it felt completely believable to me.”
Drawing on the shared feeling of fear, insecurity or self-consciousness that prevent us from fully participating in our own lives, the film uses comedy to approach these anxieties. “My hope is that audiences laugh at Chikana's increasingly impossible situation, while also very much relating to the pressures that led her there,” says Worsley. “The absurd concept of trying to stay forever young definitely deserved an absurd comedy. The entire process has been one of my career highlights, and it's been an absolute joy working with Jill Worsley and endlessly trusting her with a project so close to my heart,” adds D’Lima.
