EXCLUSIVE: Poster reveal for Dakota Blue Richards’s directorial debut ‘Each Coming Night’
24 Aug 2026 | By Molly LipsonEach Coming Night is the directorial debut by writer-director-producer-actor Dakota Blue Richards (The Northern Lights, Skins), which follows Gwen as she arrives at a hotel which was recently the scene of a brutal murder. The receptionist Sophie (Evanna Lynch) assumes she has met a fellow true crime enthusiast; however, it soon becomes apparent that Gwen's interest is far more personal. Over the course of the night, Gwen traces the events of her brother's death and ultimately finds comfort in this intimate portrait of grief.
“There is no right way to grieve,” Richards says. “In my 20 years as an actor, I have spent long stretches living in hotels and have always been fascinated by these transient spaces and the thought of the many millions of stories that have played out within their walls. In my directorial debut, I wanted to explore the idea of inhabiting the physical space where a violent crime had occurred and how, although unconventional, that might help a person achieve some closure. I hope that this film serves as a reminder that behind every lurid headline, book cover and podcast episode is a person quietly grieving the loss of someone they loved,” she says.
The film is soon to begin its festival journey. You can see the official poster below.
