MsMono Productions and Our House Pictures Attach Fateema Al-Hamaydeh Miller to direct short film ‘Quiet Love’

By Natalia Albin Legorreta

Quiet Love, the latest short film from MsMono and Our House Pictures, has found its director in Palestinian-Canadian filmmaker Fateema Al-Hamaydeh Miller. Told in both English and Arabic, the film follows two childhood friends over three days in Muscat as they reunite for one of their weddings. Written by art director and production designer Sarah Mursal, the script explores how both women navigate their different cultural expectations around intimacy and marriage, centering the power of female connection.

“I wrote Quiet Love as a reflection on the silent spaces of love, respect, and selfhood in a world where many women grow up looking to others for direction…in a society that tells them what to do with their bodies”, Mursal says about her script. “At its core, it’s about the friendships that help quiet the noise. Fateema’s experience with dual citizenship and identity gives her the perfect lens to bring this story to life.”

Al-Hamaydeh Miller is a queer, mixed-race filmmaker whose work often examines fragmented identities and grief. Her shorts have screened at festivals including OutFest LA, Maōriland, NewFest, imagineNATIVE and more. “Quiet Love is a breath of fresh air”, she says. “As a mixed-race Palestinian woman from a Muslim family, I’ve spent my life between East and West and resonate deeply with the complexity of these characters. With this script, Sarah paints a delicate portrait of womanhood, the subjectivity of freedom and the type of love that leads us to confront ourselves.”

Both MsMono and Our House Pictures champion underrepresented voices. MsMono focuses on global-majority female talent and Our House Pictures on culturally insightful original ideas. Karla Williams, executive producer at MsMono, says it is “a pleasure to be working with Our House Pictures”, adding of Al-Hamaydeh Miller’s attachment: “Fateema’s instinctive grasp of mixed heritage and cultural nuance makes her the ideal director for this story. We are thrilled to be collaborating with her.”

“It’s always exciting when the tendrils of a creative project start to come together”, said Ashleigh Ashley, producer for Our House. “MsMono has provided a much-needed boost to Quiet Love, and with Fateema now attached I can’t wait to bring this story to life.”

Principal photography on Quiet Love is scheduled for late 2026.
